Priming the Pump
…The Mother Church…
To some, the Mother Church is the Roman Catholic Church.
To others, the Mother Church is whatever pioneering church
first located in their area. To me…New Song is the Mother Church!
We’re the Mother Church because we’re founded on forgiveness, just like
motherhood. Even when trials and tribulations gather around us, we still find
forgiveness at the bottom of every mother’s heart.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. Mothers may spend a lifetime nagging us and scolding us
for all sorts of little things…but not for the big things. When it comes to the big
things, mothers know how to forgive.
We may celebrate the good times with countless friends and co-workers, but when
the very life gets sucked from our being, when we feel lower than a snake’s belly,
we turn to Mother. Mothers know how to forgive.
One mother said, “Grown don’t mean nothing to a mother. A child is a child. They
get bigger, older, but grown? What’s that suppose to mean? In my heart it don’t
mean a thing.” Mothers know how to forgive.
It’s not easy being a mother. If it were easy, we fathers would do it! It’s not easy
being a Mother Church, it’s not easy to forgive…but that’s the kind of church we’re
called to be.
No water today…just priming the pump…
